Erie County 4-H Camp on Kelleys Island provides a jam-packed adventure of team sports, fishing, archery, nature hikes, a ropes course, climbing tower, arts and crafts, a talent show, and more! Our wide spectrum of activities ensures there is something to spark interest in each camper and make for an unforgettable summer camp experience!
We have a unique team building/challenge course. Located in a wooded setting on the west side of camp, we have an 8 station challenge course. The stations can be completed in pairs or by teams to stress problem solving and cooperation. These group problem solving activities give campers the confidence they can solve complex problems in a group setting, skills they can use later on in life.
We have snorkeling equipment we are able to use to teach snorkeling skills and safety to groups of campers. We are able to use the nearby quarry or the lake. You can also “corkle” using a hard sided inner tube, which provides great buoyancy for loads of fun in Lake Erie.
We have one of the nicest beaches on Lake Erie, with an roped-off swim area, and featuring swimming, corkling (picture a hard-sided inner tube), kayaking, canoeing, sand castle building, sun bathing, volleyball, tug of war, and picnics.
We have camp fire pits in both wooded areas and by the beach. Great for sing-alongs, telling camp stories or skits. We also have basketball, volleyball, 9 square in the air, Giant Soccer, just to name a few.
Using our 20 plus acre site and the surrounding state and museum properties we are able to explore and learn about the island and its rich natural history and abundant resources
The North Pond Preserve is our neighbor to the west. It contains a lake embayment natural pond. The preserve has a boardwalk over what can be a swampy trail. The East Quarry is immediately south of the Camp, with a trailhead about 400 feet east of our driveway. Both provide for excellent nature walks and fossil hunting, and eagles occasionally nest in the North Pond area. The East Quarry provides our venue for both fishing and snorkeling, and are ideal for an afternoon activity on a warm summer day.
